Allegories explores the notion of time, its inevitable passage, and a whole host of metaphysical questions that arise as we ponder its role in the human experience. This series is a visual study of time constrained to two spatial dimensions, with HDB juxtaposing meticulously drawn figures from Classical Antiquity against futuristic celestial settings that conjure up a diverse range of emotions. The figures presented in the foreground of these works are drawn from the collective imagination of humanity’s ancient recorded histories, while the backdrop reminds us of a Cosmos whose unfathomable age we can only attempt to estimate.
Exhibited in Paris at l'Atelier Richelieu, and galleries, Chengdu, New York
