Greater KuduDrawings, India Inks
This drawing was shown in April 2014 at the beautiful exposition of the Bastille Design Center. The drawing draws attention to an animal facing extinction. The greater kudu is an African animal of great beauty that is hunted by poachers for its exceptional trophies.
The symbolism of the organic motifs is important, as they remind us of the animal’s close relation to earth and Mother Nature who created a perfectly balanced world. Man-made shapes such as the ace of spades contrast these natural symbols. It’s as though this species’ survival will be determined by a game of poker, because she has been left in the hands of mankind. The pyramids are included in the drawing to remind us of how long the species has existed.
