The Unwilling WidowDrawings, India Inks
I created this work for the Dali fait le Mur exhibition, which was held at the ‘Espace Dali’ in Montmartre from the 11 September 2014 to the 15 March 2015.
This drawing shows a praying mantis in an offensive position. To understand the drawing, its important to know that Salvador Dali was very extravagant and complicated when it came to representing the feminine figure in paintings and sculptures. He usually saw the woman as a divine and yet wicked symbol. This is exactly the feeling I tried to put into this drawing that shows the female mantis about to attack her male partner in an act of sexual cannibalism.
